Recalling Forgotten Tastes

$30.00

A forest, as told by eaters.

Recalling Forgotten Tastes is an illustrated collection of edible plants, centered on the environmental knowledge and traditional culinary practices of Orang Asli communities, primarily from Temuan and Semai subgroups.

For the book, writer and illustrator Syarifah Nadhirah traveled with indigenous guides to document the fast-disappearing knowledge of foraging for wild food. Their stories of the forest’s sustenance: as home; as food; as medicine, are told within.

71 pages, each chapter filled with gorgeously-illustrated mini glossaries of plant eats, as well as notes on identifying, harvesting, and preparing them.
